itzamatch Speed Dating A Success
 Around 38 singles showed up, found friends, and flirted with love at the itzamatch speed dating event at The Courtyard in Makati Avenue on February 16, 2007.

RP-based Internet dating website goes 'speed dating'

FROM HELPING single members find dates on the Internet, an Internet dating website is finally holding a bigger speed dating event in time for Valentine's Day, an official told INQUIRER.net.
With about 650,000 registered members, itzamatch.com is hoping to invite the first 50 couples to confirm to join its speed dating in "The Courtyard" along Makati Avenue in Makati City, said Mary Ann Go, marketing head at itzamatch.com, in a telephone interview.
"We've been holding dating events. But this is the first time we're having it in February," she said. Around 10 percent of the website's members are based outside of the Philippines.
Itzamatch.com has been holding real dating events for years but this recent event hopes to become a yearly event.
The speed dating concept was an idea introduced by Jewish Rabbi Yaacov Deyo in 1999 to encourage intra-faith marriage among those of the Jewish faith. Now, it has become commonplace, as people are given a chance to briefly meet and speak with each other before going on an actual date.
"Instead of sitting one hour in a restaurant for a date, this new dating game takes the edge off. It is fun and wholesome. It makes a good date great -- or a bad date good," Go added.
The speed dating mechanics will be done round-robin style, wherein each person can meet up to more than 10 people of the opposite sex in one evening. Each date only will last seven minutes. Ten men and women will be paired up on separate tables. After that, everyone switches partners. This continues on until everybody has had a date with each other.
At the end of the event, people will indicate the people they interested in, and if there is a match, then Itzamatch.com will give contact numbers, Go said.
